Commentary on the Guanzon Family

I remember seeing Adrian and Wilna for the first time. They individually expressed their expectations from the Life Coaching sessions. Hearing their stories separately, I asked God for discernment to be able to coach them and take their relationship to a new level. They both wanted different things, but I was excited to see how God will transform their lives. Adrian was busy with work, had little sleep and would go home tired and exhausted every day. Wilna expected him to show love and appreciation. On the other hand, Adrian expects Wilna to be an encourager through kind words. In the first day of our Life Coaching session, I felt that we really needed to work on their relationship with each other first and share what God says about true love in Scriptures. Before we could talk about topics such as Marketing, Health, Wealth Management, we needed to talk about their relationship with God, communication, and forgiveness. Martin Luther King, Jr. shares "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” We always have to remember that it is not our job to change people. God is the only one who can do that. We continue to love them, pray for them and trust that God will do the transformation.

We discussed how unforgiveness, hatred, and bitterness can imprison us and chain us from achieving freedom in life. If God Himself forgave us for what we have done, what right do we not have to forgive others? “Ang gaan sa pakiramdam,” Adrian tells us. “This is such an answered prayer! We have been waiting for this for a long time. We feel like we are back in college and we are in the honeymoon phase,” Wilna shares.

Adrian, Wilna and I worked on identifying their respective Love Language. Adrian’s Love Language are Acts of Service and Words of Affirmation. For him, encouraging words speak volumes and he feels really loved. Upon knowing this, Wilna shows her love to him through sweet and affirming words. On the other hand, Wilna’s Love Language were Acts of Service and Quality Time. Spending uninterrupted dates with her are important. She appreciates it if there are no cellphones on the dining table and she enjoys pure quality time with her spouse. With this discovery, Adrian shows love to his partner by giving her his full attention. “And galing! We feel so much love for each other in these past days,” Adrian expresses with a smile.

One of the couple’s dream is for them to pursue their freelance computer repair business - Mr. Cheap Repair Services. Having a handful of loyal customers, they expressed their interest in pursuing this passion and making it a full-time business. With God’s guidance, we were able to come up with Marketing strategies for this endeavor. Their prayer is to be able to save up for a church wedding and "have triplets someday," Adrian chuckles. With God, anything is possible. God tells us to “...not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication and thanksgiving let your requests be known to God and the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

We are really excited to see how God will work in the life of Adrian and Wilna in the coming years. “Sana marami pang pamilyang matulungan ang OLX. We are indeed very blessed by the experience. Daghan salamat, Coach Jerht!,” the couple joyfully exclaims.
